"Last month, MusicRadar took a long, hard look at Gibson's new Dark Fire guitar. It was, and still is billed as a "marriage between Chameleon Tone Technology and Second-Generation Robot Guitar Technology." Yesterday, the mysterious axe was available to see in the flesh, modelled by ex-The Darkness and current Hot Leg frontman Justin Hawkins.

Hawkins took to the stage at the Gibson Guitar Studio in London to road-test the self-tuning wonder, delivering Hot Leg's new single I've Met Jesus in the process.

Gibson will ship limited quantities of the Dark Fire in the coming weeks, with more promised for early 2009 to meet the high demand. Understandably, the production process of such a technology-heavy instrument takes time."

Sell-Out or Rock-Out? Dark Horse Indeed!

"Likewise, former Darkness front man Justin Hawkins has launched a new musical group in the shape of “man rockers” Hot Leg. Personal grievances aside, it is quite refreshing to see pure rock still being pursued, and by someone who has previously had such success in the genre.

Rock needs its ambassadors to keep fuzz-swamped, guitar-laden debauchery alive and kicking, and while ever the tiniest pang for lavish and extravagant musical carnage exists somewhere in the bowels of an underground sect of rock enthusiasts, it has every chance of recapturing the public’s affections and breaking through into mainstream society."

The Gibson Dark Fire Guitar

Who better to test the Gibson Dark Fire, the world’s most technologically advanced guitar, with its own “internet community site”, than Justin Hawkins, the former Darkness frontman? So how was it? “Actually, it got impounded by Customs in the US,” the rocker says. “We’re getting another one brought over from Germany by a WWF wrestler.” Hawkins’s new band Hot Leg have a single, I’ve Met Jesus. “It’s not a Christmas single. It’s just about Jesus and released near his birthday.”

Black Stone Cherry rock the Academy

+ posted by FlamingWhopper

"Support came from Atlanta rockers Sevendust and the UK’s own Stone Gods, the band formed from the ashes of The Darkness and fronted by Richie Edwards from Lichfield.

This is the third time this year Stone Gods have played at the Academy, and Edwards hailed the Birmingham venue as the nearest thing to a hometown gig for him, the band thrilling with tracks including You Brought A Knife To A Gunfight and I’m With The Band."
