Shining through Darkness

+ posted by FlamingWhopper

THERE could be light at the end of the tunnel for THE DARKNESS.

JUSTIN HAWKINS and his estranged bandmate and brother DAN have kissed and made up after years of silence.

The big reconciliation was at Brighton’s Ocean Room, where Justin was performing with new band HOT LEG.

A source said: “Justin said to the crowd, ‘I know Dan is here’. There was no answer so he said ‘If your name is not Dan sit down’ and everyone did leaving Dan standing.

“We were really shocked when Dan got up on stage and picked up a guitar.”

The siblings smashed out Darkness hit I Believe In A Thing Called Love.

Frontman Justin quit in 2006 and the lads have not played together since.

I hope a reunion is on the cards.

The organiser of Moonfest 2009 to be held in Westbury has said the festival is ‘on track’ after he applied for a licence to hold the event yesterday.

The festival was cancelled last year when Wiltshire Police won a court order eight days beforehand, after security fears over the festival, due to be headlined by Pete Doherty’s band Babyshambles.

Monster. Raving. Obviously not loony

Since the untimely demise of the Darkness, Justin Hawkins has competed to represent Great Britain in the Eurovision Song Contest and returned to the pop fray with his splendid new band, Hot Leg . But if a cameo appearance in the forthcoming film Telstar is any kind of guide, his talents may lie elsewhere. Written and directed by Nick Moran, Telstar tells the story of Joe Meek, the pioneering British producer who murdered his landlady before blowing his own brains out in his home studio at 304 Holloway Road, north London, on 3 February 1967 . The film is adapted from Moran's hit West End play of the same name, and stars the same actor, Olivier award-winner Con O'Neill , as the maverick Meek. Alongside him is a cast that includes Kevin Spacey, James Corden and Ralf Little (the latter playing Chas Hodges) and three sometime pop stars.

Mind the parody, here comes the Panther

HAVE you seen Steel Panther yet? No genre likes to take the rip out of itself more than heavy metal, and there's no-one quite like this band.

They claim to have missed their big break in the '80s and now, after "finally" landing a major label deal, they're "ready to roar" again. It's nonsense, of course. They're the latest band to realise how funny and ridiculous hard rock was 20 years ago - and people today can't get enough of it.
