The Darkness has saved rock and roll

+ posted by FlamingWhopper

“Can't explain all the feelings that you're making me feel. My heart's in overdrive and you're behind the steering wheel.” Are these the words of famous poet Edgar Allan Poe? Maybe a lost psalm? No, they are not, for they are the words of The Darkness.

These reflective and soul-searching lyrics come from their song, “I Believe in a Thing Called Love," their first single ever released in 2003 onto an unsuspecting world. This song, in my humble and correct opinion, saved rock and roll. Don't believe me? Let's go throw on our flux capacitor's, go 88 mph and flash back to 2003 to see what was going on in music.

Justin Hawkins is your Worst Dressed star

The Darkness' 'flamboyant' frontman has been shunned by the readers of NME and NME.COM for his fashion sense.

Justin Hawkins has been labelled as the Worst Dressed musician in the world at the ShockWaves NME Awards 2006.

The gaudy latex catsuits, thinning hair and growing beer belly meant that the cock-rocker cleaned-up in the category which also featured nominees Pete Doherty, Chris Martin, Jack White and Robbie Williams.

Note from the webmistress: Just to add...I actually want a pair of Justin's black trousers with the twist (if you know which one I'm on about lol). And when were his catsuits latex?

Rock superstars The Darkness haven't stopped since their 2003 debut album, which sold 3.5million copies worldwide.

They've had four top 10 singles, won three Brits and an Ivor Novello award for 'Songwriter of The Year' and now they're taking their second album One Way Ticket To Hell... and Back on the road.

A WILD RIDE AS THE HITS KEEP COMING

The Darkness, Nottingham Arena
The last time the boys who 'hail from the flatlands of East Anglia' played here it was the first date of a tour and, as front man Justin Hawkins put it, they were Arena virgins.

This time their visit to Nottingham was the last date of the tour, and much has changed.
