HAWKINS LAUGHS OFF EDWARDS RUMOURS

+ posted by FlamingWhopper

British band THE DARKNESS have laughed off rumours their new bassist RITCHIE EDWARDS is actually the MANIC STREET PREACHERS guitarist of a similar name who went missing eleven years ago (95).

The band hired Edwards last year (05) after sacking FRANKIE POULLAIN, who performed on the band's first album.

One Way Ticket to Hell...and Back

FOR The Darkness, more has always been more. The British quartet’s brand of glam rock polishes the genre to a fine sheen, taking the 1970s bombast and cranking it up several notches.

Luckily, amplification does not equal pretension in this case. The Darkness is quite possibly the most straightforward act around, having seemingly embarked on a one-band quest to put the roll back in rock ’n’ roll.

Your friend has challenged you to a Duel With The Devil. Match guitar licks with a demon who wields a sweet Les Paul goldtop.

Win at his game and you earn a chance to score prizes that could bring you eternal happiness.
Lose, and well... you're just a loser.

One way ticket to Hell

Spandex anyone? That's right, it's time to bust out the hair spray and the Jimmy Page body suits, because what is by far the sexiest glam rock to come out of the past decade is back with a vengeance.

Hell hath no fury like sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll. If you need proof, look no further than The Darkness' sophomore album, One Way Ticket to Hell - And Back.

Though contradictory at first, it soon becomes clear that the album title is merely a clever allusion to the dangers of flirtation with cocaine.

SPARKS released their first record in 1972 - the same year Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand was born.

Now the legendary US pop duo - brothers Russell and Ron Mael - want to make a record with the Scots group.

They are also to release their 20th studio album, Hello Young Lovers.
