Metal heroes Thunder rumble in Norwich

+ posted by FlamingWhopper

Metal heroes Thunder will be back in Norwich on Wednesday with new material from their magnificent seventh studio album.

The band split at the end of the 1990s, but inspired by the Darkness-led rock revival, they have donned their tight trousers and bandannas once more.

Aptly named The Magnificent Seventh, their latest album finds the five-piece from South London delivering the goods in no uncertain terms.

With foot-on-amp typically Thunder-esque rock tunes such as 'The Pride' and 'Monkey See, Monkey Do', alongside, more melodic numbers such as 'Fade Into The Sun' and the retro feel of 'You Can't Keep A Good Man Down', the band promise a cracking set of new songs and older anthems.

The band have toured relentlessly for almost 15 years and their fondness for hard graft and a good laugh turned them into one of the most visible and best loved British rock acts of the 90s.

Guitarist Luke Morley said: “There was a period just after the whole Brit-Pop thing in the 90s where we were out of sorts. We split for two years because of it. But then The Darkness arrived, a band with the same principles and ideals as ourselves - indeed Justin Hawkins told me that the first ever band he saw live was Thunder back in 1990 - rock was in again and we're having a great time back together.”

The rock monsters have played alongside the likes of Deep Purple, Status Quo, Alice Cooper, The Quireboys, and Bon Jovi and picked up a Kerrang magazine award for the best British live act in 1995. The band consists of lead singer Danny Bowes, Luke Morley on guitar, Ben Matthews on guitar and keyboards, Chris Childs on bass and Harry James on drums.
