Princes 'Gibbering Wreck' Concert Appearance

+ posted by FlamingWhopper

Prince William has admitted he is likely to be left a "gibbering wreck" by the end of the Concert For Diana at the new Wembley stadium.

The Prince admits he is dreading having to make a speech, for although he and brother Harry have had a hand in every stage of the preparations for the sell-out gig including picking the bands they hadn’t counted on taking any active role on the stage.

Wills shuddered when he recalled the moment he was told it might be a good idea to make a speech.

He said: "We were like, ‘Really, you’re sure? "We’ll definitely be up at some point giving some sort of speech. "It wasn’t something we were contemplating and now we’re like, ahhh . . . ok 65,000 people at Wembley and God knows how many people will be watching it on television."

His brother has also been having sleepless nights about a deathly silence, booing and rotten tomatoes being thrown at them.

Harry, who William describes as the "Ginger Bob Geldof", told Fearne Cotton in a BBC interview how things escalated after he offered to introduce a band and get back off the stage.

Harry mused: "We don’t have the contacts. Apparently we can’t just ring up people like Robbie Williams."

Then he added: "The Darkness are good friends of ours." But William stepped in and said: "We’d like to claim they were." I reckon the Princes should get their jumpsuits on and do Justin Hawkins and the boys proud.

The brothers have each paid £45 for tickets and family members and friends have also forked out for the show.

Beatrice, Eugenie and Zara Phillips will be there plus a bit of football royalty . . . David Beckham. This will be the biggest Wembley stage so far and there will be 63,000 people in the stadium.

Some of the stars were Diana’s favourites, some the princes’ favourites. Yesterday they talked about the gig.

Nick Rhodes from Duran Duran said: "The band are delighted and honoured to play. The princes have done a remarkable job."

Devon warbler Joss Stone said: "I just hope I don’t mess up. I want to make it special for everyone."

Dan Gillespie, frontman of The Feeling, can’t wait to catch up with Take That and Elton John. He said: "We were asked directly by the princes, which was nice. It’s going to be a lovely day."
