Sad But True

From the Stone Gods myspace page:

"It is with very heavy hearts indeed that we have to announce the permanent departure of drummer and founding member Ed Graham from Stone Gods.
Unfortunately Ed has been physically unable, for a number of reasons, to fill the stool-position for some time and won't be able to refill it any time soon. Right now being in a rock band is simply not the best place for him.
It's been horrid and heart-wrenching realizing and coming to terms with this fact, but we all have to move on in order to keep this thing going. There is too much passion and love involved from us and from you, our loyal fans, for us to simply draw the shutters and shut up shop.

We realize that there will be some very disappointed and saddened people out there as a result of this, but let us assure you that we are amongst you. Now, more than ever, we all need to pull together and be positive about the future. I promise, it looks pretty darned bright once you see through the fog.

Unfortunately due to all of this, we will be unable to appear at Wacken festival, which is a terrible but unavoidable shame. There's a lot of that going around at the minute. Still, we're keeping our chins up and so should you! We're taking on the world regardless.

We thank you all, from the bottom of our collective heart, for your ongoing and invaluable support. You guys rule.

As always, love, respect and horns raised firmly aloft,

Stone Gods."

5. How did you get Dan Hawkins of the Darkness onto one of the band's earlier demos?
This is before he became a mega superstar. I had been working with the same producer as The Darkness and in the same studio so we kind off hooked up through that, he came and played on a few tracks and it was great, he is such a talented guitarist! Unfortunately he was all ready taken in The Darkness so I couldn't nick him!

From the ashes of The Darkness has come Stone Gods. It’s impossible to talk about this band without mentioning the multi-million selling band that spawned them, so why bother trying.

The formula of retro rock AC/DC and Def Leppard the templates rather than Queen and Led Zeppelin this time is wonderfully familiar. The band’s style is raucous but grounded and with the explosive, unpredictable, self-combustible factor of Justin Hawkins out of the equation, there appears to be a bit more stability with Richie Edwards at the helm.

Stone Gods were playing at the world famous King Tuts in Glasgow and whatsurmusic caught up with them to chat about The Darkness, the split and their new fantastic rock album, Silver Spoons and Broken Bones.

The Stone Gods have been nominated in a fantastic 2 Classic Rock Awards, for Best New Band and Best Album!

You can vote in the awards via Classic Rock Magazine from August 20th (Issue 123) Which will have all the details.

From the Stone Gods Blog: "We at Stone Gods HQ are proud to announce that Classic Rock magazine have seen fit to nominate us for Best New Band and Best Album at this years Classic Rock Awards.
It is both an honor and a pleasure for us and all those who worked so hard with us on the record and everything else that makes us Stone Gods.
